Governor of Sokoto State, Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto State,
said that the state government had concluded plans to explore its abundant
crude oil deposits. Wamakko stated this in Sokoto while receiving the Sultan of
Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, who paid him
Sallah homage .
The governorsaid: “Oil is the pride of some parts of the
country. I want to inform you that there are oil deposits on the plains of
Sokoto State. We will intimate the Federal Government on the development with a
view to exploring these deposits. At the state level, we shall put in
everything we have towards actualizing this.”
